English Morning Assembly

In order to provide students with more chances to speak English in public, we have English morning assembly every Day 9 and Day 10. Students read out passages from the bible, say prayers, do the sharing and sing songs during the assembly. They all enjoy the experience and build up confidence in using English. Different students are invited to participate in order to maximise the number of students involved.

Special English Day: ¡¥Spooky Halloween¡¦

To celebrate the Halloween, the English Society and the Student Union co-organized a Special English Day entitled ¡¥Spooky Halloween¡¦ on that day. The members of which dressed as witches or devils, shared English jokes and tongue twisters with junior formers during the breaks. During lunchtime, students enjoyed themselves with ¡¥Apple Bobbing¡¦, a traditional Halloween game at the school hall. By participating in these activities, students could get lollies and stamps for admission ticket to the after-school ¡§Haunted House¡¨. All had a memorable time under the spooky yet exhilarating atmosphere. The junior formers all enjoyed practicing their English in a fun way.?

English Day

To enrich and enhance the English environment at school, every Day 8 and 9 is designated as English Day. The Morning Assembly on the two days is conducted in English. All students and teachers are encouraged to converse in English on the day at school, especially outside classroom. English Ambassadors are stationed at the covered playground to chat with junior formers. The students can get a mini merit whenever they chat with an English teacher or other subject teachers. Then they will be awarded with a prize from the Principal if they collect 10 merits from 5 different teachers. The Principal and many teachers are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the students in chatting with them.

Say Out Loud

Say Out Loud was successfully held on 31st April, 2nd and 3rd May 2007. This activity was jointly organized by the English Department, the Extensive Reading Committee and the English Society. At lunchtime, a lot of students lined up in the covered playground and shared their English story books with English teachers or English Ambassadors happily. Some of the English Ambassadors even wore special costumes and walked around the playground. There were more than fifty students who got eight stamps and entered the Lucky Draw. There were also wonderful and fantastic prizes for The Most Enthusiastic Class and The Best Presenter.

Creepy Halloween

The event "Creepy Halloween" was organised by the English Society on 31st October, 2006. During recess, all the English ambassadors dressed in scary costumers asked schoolmates questions and distributed candies to them. It attracted many junior form students to get the candies. Also, there was a creepy party held at lunchtime. In the party, our society advisors, Miss Chau and Miss Lai played games with students. We all enjoyed in it! All these activities could help the students to learn English in a funny way and we believed that all the schoolmates were content with what they have learnt and the candies they got.

English Singing Contest

On the 26 th of May, the English Society held an English Singing Contest at lunchtime at the covered playground. A number of groups and individual contestants participated in it. Mr. John Croft and Miss Angela Leung were invited to be our adjudicators. The activity was fun-filling and vibrant. The musical talents proudly showed off their beautiful singing.
